Okay, Friend is run by WellRooted LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Okay, Friend app, our website, and the text messages your buddy sends, how we use it, and the choices you have. It works together with our Terms of Service.
Okay, Friend is a product of WellRooted LLC, a coaching and consulting company. It is separate from any clinical practice, and we don’t combine information from Okay, Friend with any clinical records.
The short version: we collect what we need to run your buddy. We don’t sell your information, we don’t share it for advertising, and we don’t share your phone number for anyone else’s marketing. You can pause, opt out, or delete your data whenever you want.
Information you give us
Information created as you use the Service
Website visitors: like most sites, our web host keeps basic technical logs, such as IP address and browser type. Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser requests those files from Google’s servers. At the time of writing, this website does not use advertising or analytics trackers.
What you tell your buddy can reveal details about your health, routines, or mental well-being, even though you’re the one deciding what to share. We treat that information as sensitive. We use it only to provide and improve the Service you asked for, never for advertising, and we don’t sell it. Please share only what you’re comfortable sharing. You can delete it at any time.
We don’t use your private messages to train AI models.
We share information only with companies that help us run the Service, and only as needed for that purpose. They fall into these categories:
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the safety, rights, or property of you or others, or if WellRooted LLC is part of a merger, sale, or similar change, in which case we’ll tell you.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for cross-context advertising, and we do not share your mobile number or text opt-in data with third parties for their marketing.
Texts aren’t end-to-end encrypted, so anyone with access to your phone or your phone’s notifications could see them. Consider this when choosing what to discuss and how to set your phone’s lock screen previews.
We keep your information while your account is active. If you delete your account or your data, we delete or de-identify it, unless the law requires us to keep something longer. Backups may take a little longer to clear.
We’ll reply within the time the law requires. We may need to confirm it’s really you before acting on a request.
We use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as limiting who can access it and working with providers that have security practices of their own. No online service is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong passcode on your phone.
Okay, Friend is for people 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a young person has used the Service, email us and we’ll delete their information.
We may update this policy. If we make an important change, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect. The “last updated” date above always shows the latest version.
